Where to find us

Kaikōura is only a scenic 2hr 30min drive north from the Christchurch International Airport and a scenic 2hr drive south from the Picton Ferry Terminals. Train (seasonal) and/or coach services between Christchurch and Picton are in operation daily and stop in Kaikōura, rental vehicles are also available for hire at the Christchurch International Airport and Picton Ferry Terminals. The Whale Watch Office is clearly sign posted and can be located just off State Highway 1 or Beach Road near the Kaikōura Town Centre.

Our main office is located at The Whaleway Station, Whaleway Station Road, Kaikōura

We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding as our community recovers from the recent significant weather event.

With our town reopening and the weather forecast continuing to improve, we are pleased to advise that Whale Watch Kaikōura will reopen from 9:00 am Saturday morning.

Our whale watching tours will operate, subject to favourable sea and weather conditions.

As we reopen, our team will be working diligently to respond to all outstanding emails, phone calls, and messages as quickly as possible. We appreciate your continued patience while we work through enquiries.

TRAVEL ADVISORY:

Please note that State Highway 1 south of Kaikōura from Christchurch remains closed. The only road access to Kaikōura is currently via State Highway 1 north from Blenheim.

For the latest information on road conditions and closures, please visit the NZ Transport Agency website before travelling.
